Judge, Appeals Division, International Criminal Court

To facilitate an inclusive and impartial justice system

“My work is challenging, interesting and is a necessary component of transitional justice, re-establishing law and order, and of healing the social fabric of society torn by conflict by ensuring accountability for individual perpetrators of atrocious crime that shocks the human conscience. By sensitive handling of victims, ensuring fair and expeditious trials and rendering decisions through a gendered lens, judges ensure access to justice for victims, communities and vulnerable groups, especially women, children, men, and persons of all genders. Gendered decisions contribute to eradicating discrimination, which is a major driver of crimes against humanity and war crimes, and to prevention of future atrocities, thus bridging the impunity gap.”
