Build community trust

To deal with extra judicial killings and violent crime in her Korogocho community, Rose engages youth in single identity dialogues; bringing together youth and security actors to air their grievances and help find solutions. She has been instrumental in community disarmament processes, where armed youth, voluntarily return firearms to the police safely. She uses trauma healing awareness and resilience training to help affected youth deal with their pain and trauma and understand that even having a conversation with their perceived killers and brutal police is part of their healing journey. 

Rose Mbone continues to champion for inclusion of young women and youths in peace and security processes in Kenya and beyond. Rose is a Peace Builder and founder, The Legend Kenya a grass root, youth led organization that works to promote youth reform and conflict prevention.  She’s winner of the Trail Blazer award 2021, for her work lobbying for the inclusion of young women and youth in peace and security processes in Kenya and winner of the International Young Women Peace and Human Rights Award, 2021.
